DANIEL NEWMAN
Born in Jacksonville in 1978, emerging artist Daniel Newman earned at B.F.A. from The Cooper Union in New York. Dividing his time between Miami and Los Angeles, he has exhibited at the Miami Art Museum; the Tomio Koyama Gallery, Tokyo; and at Twenty Twenty Projects and Placemaker Gallery, Miami. Seen in Elle Magazine and other publications, his work has been acquired by Miami collectors Craig Robins, Phil and Shelley Aarons, and Bob and Susan Zarchen.

Bad Vibes (Grass), ISLAND, and UPSTATE DEER were part of a mixed-media installation Newman created at Placemaker Gallery, Miami, in 2004, entitled Gas, Grass or Ass. Inspired by the bumper sticker: “Grass, Gas or Ass…Nobody rides for free!”, the show ironically commented on the then current fascination with the hippie culture of the 1960s, in which the road trip was equated with spiritual quest.
