BEATRICE HELG
Born in Geneva in 1956, Béatrice Helg studied photography at the California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland, at the Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara, and at the International Center of Photography in New York. Her work has been exhibited at the Museum Tinguely, Basel, the Institut Valencià d’Art Modern, Valencia, and the Museum of Photographic Arts in San Diego. Helg’s photographs have been acquired by the Bibliothèque Nationale, Paris, the National Gallery of Canada, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, among other museums. 54 of her photographs are on permanent display at the financial headquarters of Credit Suisse in Geneva.

Helg’s large-format color photographs depict abstract geometric structures which she assembles in her Geneva studio, using simple materials such as frosted glass, fabric, and sheets of rusted metal. Bathed in theatrical light and rigorously arranged, her elegant, pared-down images suggest the undefined spaces and unusual perspectives of a dream.
