JASON HEDGES
Born in Hollywood, Florida in 1978, “food artist” Jason Hedges earned a B.A. from Florida Atlantic University in 2000. Currently living and working in Miami, he has staged performances and exhibited his sculpture and photography at the Bass Museum of Art, Miami Beach, the Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami, and at the Palm Beach Institute of Contemporary Art. His work is included in the Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami, and in the collections of Carlos and Rosa de la Cruz, George Lindemann, and the Four Seasons Hotel in Miami, among others. He was the 2001 recipient of the South Florida Cultural Consortium Fellowship.

Known for his cooking performances and food-related artwork, Hedges seeks to visualize the essence of the simple, universal acts of eating and drinking, inviting viewers to respond to his imagery on the visceral level of taste, smell and sight. In the diptych, Beaulieu Vineyard, George de Latour Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, the blurred shapes and rich, glowing red of the wine-stained cloth evoke the epicurean experience of tasting fine wine.
